The Humans of smrtPhone

For our tenth installment of the series highlighting our awesome team members, we profile the “smrtie” who gives you all the details you need to master our platform: Georgiana Mirita.

Georgiana Mirita

Title / Role in the Company

Technical Writer and Documentation Manager. I write the articles that help people understand our system and provide step by step instructions to use it better. I cover the entire platform including smrtPhone and smrtDialer and all the features of the system.

How long have you worked for smrtPhone?

10 Months

What’s your background?

I have a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and early childhood education and a second Bachelor degree in Romanian and English language and literature. I also have a Master’s degree in Romanian grammar.  My second degree was purely for pleasure; I wanted to learn more and read more. I wanted to be a high school teacher or a university professor.

Currently, I’m an elementary school teacher and I work for smrtPhone when the school day is over. There are not a lot of jobs in the system to be a high school teacher. You have to teach in two or more schools and I don’t want to do that. To be a professor, I would need a PhD. Which I don’t have – but maybe in the next few years!

What was your first job?

My very first job was in a call center where I worked for three weeks. It was a terrible experience and I was not even paid.

My second job was in a kindergarten as an English teacher where I stayed for two years.

But my longest job was working in a bookstore. It was a nice place with nice people. And it’s where I met Valentina, which is how I was connected with smrtPhone.

What do you like about working for smrtPhone?

I like the people and I have some freedom in my schedule. I’m not tied up to do this at this hour. My schedule is flexible. At first I was very, very scared about it. The first article I saw was very long and I didn’t know if I could do it. But compared to all of the jobs I have had, it’s easy.

Plus, I get appreciated here. People see what I do. It’s not like I’m working my ass off and no one even knows what I’ve done.

And it’s been interesting to learn about software. I really like the idea of coding.  When I like something, I find it easy to learn. I can see myself picking it up someday and learning.

Georgiana Mirita - Artist and smrtPhone Technical Writer

Describe smrtPhone in 3 words:

Easy going. Comfortable. Intuitive.

Is there a particular moment/project at smrtPhone that stands out and makes you feel proud?

Launching the Salesforce integration. I accomplished so much in a short period of time – 99 articles put into the library in just two weeks, between new articles and updated existing ones. I was amazed by my own job and success. At first I was not convinced I could do it and then all of my effort was there.

I feel proud of all that we accomplish here. It’s not just a company where you do your work and that’s it, off by yourself. smrtPhone exceeds expectations. The way it all comes together – it’s so much more than a job.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I paint. I paint on everything. T shirts, sweatshirts, shoes, canvas. I use a cartoon, graphic style.

I don’t consider myself to be talented, I do it to get out of my head. It’s something I really enjoy to take my mind off things. I’ve done it since I was a child.

Name something that is on your “bucket list”

Learn more than I know now – especially adding more languages. I’m currently studying Korean. I know a little Italian, Spanish, French,  and English. I tried Japanese, but couldn’t quite get it. After Korean, it will be Russian.

And I’d like to visit some countries. Not the touristy spots – I want to travel to traditional villages with old customs. I saw a documentary about villages in remote areas in Japan and China. I would love to be there and see their traditions. My first visit will be to Kyoto Japan.

What is a fun fact people might not know about you?

I took traditional Romanian dance classes for four years. I’m as flexible and elegant as a log. I cannot dance at all. And I have a dark, twisted sense of humor.
