The Humans of smrtPhone

Welcome to our third installment of the series that highlights our awesome team members.

This month’s “smrtie” heads up our Client Success department and is often the first point of contact for prospects and new clients.

Name: Maria Nera

Title / Role in the Company: Client Success.

I talk with prospects and new clients in trial, introducing them to smrtPhone and smrtDialer. I give demos, explain our products, walk them through our pricing plans, and answer questions to help them get started in the best way possible.

How long have you worked for smrtPhone? About a year and a half.

What’s your background? Before smrtPhone I was focused on sales and administrative work.  I am a very talkative person. I enjoy talking to people and teaching them new things. I’ve been told I’m very persuasive!

What was your very first job? A call center agent, which is a very common job in the Philippines. I learned a lot of skills like how to keep my cool, not to take things personally, and to have empathy for people on the other end of the line who are often very upset.

What do you like about working for smrtPhone? I love the diversity of the company and how it impacts our culture. We have different races, nationalities, genders – but everyone is working as one team. It’s a non-judgmental place that opens you to different cultural attitudes. It opens your mind.

Describe smrtPhone in 3 words:

Always moving forward.

(If you want two more adjectives: Extraordinary and Awesome!)

Is there a particular moment/project at smrtPhone that stands out and makes you feel proud?

We always make room for improvement. We face opportunities and issues right away. We listen to feedback all the time. Even in just the time I’ve been here, we’ve built a better system when it comes to demos and we keep improving. With some competitors, it’s nearly impossible to get a demo, but we make it easy and answer all of your questions. And our Support Team is superb.

Maria Nera - Enjoys her job and enjoys life

What do you like to do in your free time? I love to sleep and I love to eat.

Food is my love language. If I like you I’ll cook for you. I love seafood the most so even though I’m allergic to it, I will take an antihistamine and eat it any way. (Don’t worry! The allergy isn’t very intense.)  I especially love shrimp and crabs.

Name something that is on your “bucket list.” I would love to travel alone with no one else to take care of or consider. No boyfriend, family, or kids – just me, myself and I, taking lots of  time to explore. I would go somewhere cold, green, and with few people. Maybe New Zealand, Iceland, or the Faroe Islands.

What is a fun fact people might not know about you? I do Muay Thai kick boxing. I’ve also entered a Filipino eating competition – called a Boodle Fight – and I could have won it, but I dropped out because I was worried what they would think of a woman beating everyone.
