The Humans of smrtPhone

For our seventh installment of our highlighting our awesome team members, we profile “smrtie” Developer Adi Stoichita.

Name

Adrian Stoichita

Title / Role in the Company

I am a Full Stack Developer, but with smrtPhone I generally work on the back end. I like to build under the hood and I’m really interested in security. You can find me developing new features but at the same time I’m solving client issues on a daily basis.

How long have you worked for smrtPhone?

I’ve been full time at smrtPhone for almost a year and a half, but I’ve been working with Vlad and Alex for more than seven years in other companies. I got the job because a friend of mine was leaving the position and recommended me as his replacement. He told me how great it was to work with this team so I decided to apply.

What’s your background?

I studied economics in school, but I’ve been working as a developer since before I graduated. I had zero experience and background, but I was interested and learned quickly.

What was your first job?

My very first job was when I was 14 and I worked in construction. I was eager to make money so I did anything they asked.  When I was in school, I worked at a call center for a gas company answering the customer service lines. I gained a lot of experience helping angry and frustrated people solve their issues.

What do you like about working for smrtPhone?

Working here is not like working. It doesn’t feel like a job; it’s just my life. I don’t feel pressure or a lot of stress – we just enjoy talking about software and building a product that makes life easier for tons of people. Everyone is relaxed but dedicated and works hard to accomplish new things. There is a lot of trust and confidence among the team. We’re friends. We’ve built a really strong, positive culture. I never wake up and dread going to work.

Describe smrtPhone in 3 words:

Fast. Reliable. User friendly.

Is there a particular moment/project at smrtPhone that stands out and makes you feel proud?

One of the biggest touchable features that comes to mind is the smrtDialer Excel import. I’m proud of it because it adds new value to an existing product. It’s something that clients were really excited about and immediately started using. It solves a major problem with managing large lead lists in the CRM systems and helps our clients upload thousands of leads.

But, in a more general sense, I feel proud on every step of this journey. And I’m more than excited about what is still to come.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I like anything that involves being active. I like going for walks or hiking or taking long drives in my car. But what I really love is mountain biking. It helps me clear my mind. No matter which direction I go from my house, in 10 minutes, I’m out in nature. I just hop on my bike and that’s it.

I’ll go in the middle of the week by myself but if I can find someone to go with me, that’s even better.

Name something that is on your “bucket list”

I really like cars and I’m trying to learn about cars and how cars work. I would love to attend a high performance driving school. For fun, but also to become more skilled and learn more about safety.

What is a fun fact people might not know about you?

I sing a lot. I took traditional Romanian classes when I was in general school as a kid. It was me and 20 little girls. I have a special connection with music. You can always find me singing or humming.
